Merry Christmas 2011

It was a very merry and seductive Christmas.
-I caught up with girlfriends.
-Went to dinner with an old flame.
-Got some puppy love.

-Was in the loop regarding two Christmas Adam jokes (Christmas Adam is the eve to Christmas Eve):

Prank #1, on Dr. D.Rhodes, involved a reenactment of "A Christmas Story" for his Christmas Adam party.

Prank #2, on Dr. Hott (aka Dad), involved a sexy snowman. Appropriately sprawled across the driveway.

With this sign.

-Santa was seen and his lap was sat upon.

-Lots of MB was listened to. Lots!

-Pressies were given and gotten.

-Family portraits were taken.

-All the bras were hung by the chimney with care... Wait. What?
Let me explain that I did some last minute laundry (too delicate for the dryer) the night before my early morning flight back to the city. What can I say? I'm improvisational.

-And my parents were behind this Christmas gift...

A very merry Christmas indeed!
Hope you wrapped up 2011 as well as we did!
Love,

Flowers from Dad.

Hand delivered. To my doorstep.
In time of crisis.

After getting into the Christmas spirit MUCH too early this year, I became very much a Scrooge once the 'ToDo' list surrounding the holidays started building. So much so, that it was resulting in a full blown melt down come last Sunday night.
Monday afternoon, after rushing home from work, I walked into the street-front doors of my apt building, and was checking my mail when there was a booming and banging coming from the outside door. I turned to see why the UPS guy would be banging with such intensity when I saw, on the other side of the vestibule, no UPS guy, but instead my sweet dad; standing there with his luggage, a backpack, and a bouquet of flowers.
What a surprise!
Although I still had 2 separate work parties to attend, a concert to see, and a TON more other stuff to do, and he had business in Boston all of Tuesday, we still got in some quality time, some good eats, and a broadway show before he headed back home.
And although his visit didn't lighten the load, it did make me realize what is REALLY important this holiday season. Spending time with the ones you love.
All the other stuff is just fluff. But fluff is pretty great too so rather than become the Grinch next year, I should just remember to not sweat the small stuff, do the best I can, and enjoy it.
Or at least just stick it out until I can get home to Va.
My Dad's visit reminded me of the lesson learned long long ago, from 'How the Grinch Stole Christmas'...
"Maybe Christmas, he thought, doesn't come from a store. Maybe Christmas, perhaps, means a little bit more."

"Welcome Christmas. Bring your cheer. Cheer to all Whos far and near.
Christmas day is in our grasp. So long as we have hands to clasp.
Christmas day will always be. Just as long as we have we.
Welcome Christmas while we stand. Heart to heart and hand in hand."

Merry Christmas!
Love,

Christmas with the Kennedy's

Every year, our friend Carol throws the most fabulous Christmas party and every year, there's a different theme. The first two years we were lucky enough to have the most professional and talented Josh Brown photograph all the party-goers and it's always such a treat. Not mention there is usually a serious dance party and delicious treats.
Now, I've been meaning to do a post on Josh all his own because he's seriously brilliant and crazy talented, but for now, this is just a teaser...
The first year that Carol threw her Christmas party, the theme was "A Roaring 20's Christmas."
And here are a specific few of me and my girlfriends.

The second year, the theme was "Support the Troops, a 1942 Christmas."
We all thought Josh was taking our picture when we posed for him and come to find out, he created
this little gem!

See? I told you. He's BRILLIANT!
Our stills (just in case you don't feel like watching his video, but you should).

This year, the theme was "Christmas with the Kennedy's, a 1962 Christmas."
I love how specific she's gotten with the year! Too funny! Josh wasn't there this year, so all you will have to go on is my crappy iPhone pics and the photos I stole from Laura and Carol.
(Brigs had a good post on it here.)
We had a blast getting ready together and doing our hair was the most fun part.

Merry Christmas, you filthy animal.

Love,

The Golden Girl Christmas Spectacular

Oh man, Nanny and sisters turned this town upside down for approximately 3 days straight last week.
They arrived at Penn Station on my lunch break on Tuesday and I was so happy to see that they were each wearing a Chirstmas sweater/vest when I got there to pick them up. Quite festive and appropriate for all that they wanted to accomplish while they were here.

Luckily I had Wednesday off and could go galavanting with the girls! We started at Rockefeller Center which was all set up for the tree lighting that night.
We watched the Rockettes rehearse for their tree lighting performance which was especially exciting being as Mom and Dad had surprised the girls with Radio City Christmas Spectacular tickets for Christmas.
(See those Rockettes back there? On the ice?)

We shopped and drank hot chocolate at the Christmas Market at Bryant Park.

We saw practically ALL the christmas windows & decorations this city has to offer (except Barney's - I'm still dying to see the Lady Gaga floor obvi).
I'm sorry Bergdorf's, but this year, Macy's beat you out as my fave windows.
How could you NOT love that sparkly little marionette lady?!

This was Joyce's first trip to NYC and I think she loved it. She especially loved the subway. Her exact words, "I like the subway! Richmond should get one of these!"

That night we saw Mary Poppins on Broadway.

We had great seats.

After the show, we explored Times Sq a bit and got cheesecake to take home (that was a nightly occurrence - except for the night we got rice pudding from 'Rice to Riches' instead - and still, the cheesecake flavor was had - YUMM)

We made it on the bid screen in Times Sq!!! It's zoomed in and blurry, but here is our proof.

The next day I had to work again so the girls went to Rockefeller Center again (this time all by themselves on the subway like pros) to see the tree all lit up and to see the Radio City Rockettes Christmas Spectacular.
THEY LOVED IT!!!

They got out of the show at the same time as I did for lunch so we met up and ate together. Then I threw them in a carriage for a horse drawn ride around central park (and snapped a quick pick) before heading back to see my last few patients.

I was so sad to see them go on Friday, but I had a great time! I hope they did too! I'm so proud to come from such beautiful, strong, women and I'm thankful for all the time we get to spend together and the example they set for our family.

Last week, Diddz asked me if musicians did it for me like they do for her and my response was, "Yes, I'm my Nanny's granddaughter."
