How to Succeed...

Last Wednesday Yelz and I got up early on our day off and went to midtown (I know, that's shocking enough in itself, but the story doesnt end there) for $30 rush tickets to 'How to Succeed in Business without Really Trying' on Broadway. Poor Yelzies had a rough morning before we even got our tickets, but somehow I convinced her to brunch it with me right there in our least favorite neighborhood in the city and try for the Wicked lottery. We were munching on our breakfast burritos when practically all of the RHONJ cast walked in.

We saw these three... + hubbies.
-Caroline and hubby, Al,
-Kathy and hubby, Richie,
-Melissa and hubby, Joe,
-and a fourth NEW couple.
I'm pretty sure it was the highlight of Yelzie's day and made her crumby morning well worth it.

We did NOT win the wicked lottery... AGAIN.
Seriously, I've tried approximately a billion times.

But we did go back to see How to Succeed later that night and it.was.AWESOME!

My Lu wrote a great post on it here, but can I just say that it was the MOST charming show I've seen all year! It's clear that, "Harry Radcliffe" as I legitimately accidentally called him, did his training and committed fully to his stint on the great white way. Seriously, if you can go see this show before his run is over at the end of the year, I highly recommend it. He was MADE for that role and I cant imagine the guy they're replacing him with, the guy from Glee, to even touch Danny Potter's version. I laughed from beginning to end which was only made worse by the cast getting tickled with one another and holding for crowd laughter, then breaking again and kind of shrugging towards each other as if to say, "I dont get it either, but whatever we're doing is working for them!"
Ugh. So corny cute.
Which is just my cup of tea!
Anyway, go see it!
Plus seeing HP preform live is the 2011 version of seeing Dorothy Garland (or Judy Gayle) in the 1950's.

I had three of the hottest dates a girl could ask for... except for that time that I went out with the baseball boys. Dreamboat central. Anyway... look how stunning... My Diddz, Yelz, and Sweet Ang.

Here's a clip from the 2011 Tony's...

My sweet dad just got a new wardrobe and new glasses and he looks like a character straight outta How to Succeed... Check it.

Also,
Dear Bud Frump,
Will you marry me? I'll give you all the coffee in the world.
Love,

My fave things...

right NOW.  They're always changing ya know!

Right now, I'm LOVING so many things...

This treasure from the antique show at home.
It's a twig. With diamonds. Perfect for a diamond loving Birdie like myself.

The term "tomfoolery" (but that's always a fave).

My grey leather jacket from The Maxx.
I love the lining almost as much as the jacket itself.
And oh how I love it's versatility, let me count the ways.
3... There are three ways to wear it.

The word "provincial," which until last week, I'd only ever heard Belle sing in the song, 'Belle' (which I always called 'Bonjour') on Beauty and the Beast.
Last week I heard this word in real life twice and in a broadway show once. THREE TIMES IN ONE WEEK?! 20years or so of only hearing this word in a disney song and now I hear it three times in everyday life?! Seriously, I thought this word was made up simply to fill the number of syllables required to make the line, "just watch I'm going to make Belle my Wiiiife," rhyme with, "there must be more than this _ _ _ life."

This vintage collar I've had forever and never been able to figure out how to wear it. Until now,

My new Apple Airport.
I finally gave in and purchased it to replace my old crumby router and voila. Internet. Internet at it's finest. And with less cords.

All high heels. I'm giving up my issue with my height here in NYC compared to most of the shorter men, and I'm wearing them 'til I'm blue in the face. Or feet. Which ever comes first.

Instagram. I don't even know why I'm loving it, but I just insta-AM.

And lastly, but most lovingly, THIS! It is my most favorite thing in the world right now. I just keep watching it over and over. I love Tony, I love the Gaga, I JUST.LOVE.IT! Love, her dress, her hair, her lipstick, his suit, his glasses, his handkerchief, their kiss, his voice, her voice, her gestures to his wife off camera, etc, etc, etc, love, love, love.

According to my doorman at work, I missed Tony eating outside my building on Central Park South by a matter of minutes the other day. I honestly, almost cried. Which is just silly I know, but I love him! Missing out on him in person is NOT one of my favorite things, but that Gaga recording IS, so WATCH IT! And then watch it again. And again and again. I dare you not to fall in love!

Love,

A P.E.R.F.E.C.T. Saturday night out?

My internet is back up and running! So time to play catch up...

2 weekends ago, on a Saturday, Yelz and I decided to brunch it up at the Popover Cafe on the west side. As soon as I sat down on the bus to meet her, I texted her "On the crosstown." Just a few seats over, her phone dinged and she looked up and said, "Kare."
How embarrassing.
For those of you who dont know, the popover cafe has this strawberry butter that is Ah-MAZE. With Yelzie's encouragement, I snuck two containers worth into my purse to bring home for later.
After brunch, on our way to TJ's (or the Maxx for the Minimum as I usually refer to it), we stopped at this cement pasture of lamas? We didnt know what they were, but they made for a fun photo op.

As we walked, shopped, and girl talked, we decided that in order to be normal, young, single girls in the city, we must go out that night; no matter how badly we would want to stay in come nightfall.

Later that night I met Yelz and Roman (her brother) at a Russian bar/restaurant to head over to a house party together. In the 5 minutes I was in the bar, I was asked, in more or less words, if I was a hooker. Let me express that I was wearing long jeans and a leather jacket zipped up to my ears so I'm not quite sure what led this drunk stranger to asking that question, but when he finally found out that I was simply a boring dental hygienist, he said he was surprised because i was "so well put together." Thank you?
Onto the house party.

Where we met Diddy's possible soulmate drinking from a porcelain Cat.
Gimme!
While out, Sandra texted us that Diddz's phone had died so to contact her when heading to meet them at our final destination goal of 'Veranda.' In the meantime, they randomly ran into a new friend of Paula's from her Peru trip and we were to now meet up with them wherever they were in the west village. Then, Sandra leaves. It was like hunting a needle in a hay stack trying to find our Diddy-Nugget in a bar, inside of a 5Guys, in the village when her phone was dead and Sandra had now left us and given us the wrong cross streets. But to no avail...

Diddy-Nugget!!! She doesn't realize how happy she is about it yet...

but soon enough! Success!

P.S. This is Andy. And he loves Diddz. And Yelz. And me. And you. And you. And you. And you and you!

I got home later than night and realized I'd gone out with 2 hoarded containers of strawberry butter.
And I wonder why I'm single...

I love these shoebooties, and I've worn them before, but on this night they tore my feet UP! But aren't they pretty?!
Pain is beauty, right?
Ya know, maybe they're the reason I was confused for a hooker...
either way, RUDE!

Love,
~Legs*

Midnight train to Va

I came back from Ut, worked two days, and then headed straight for VA on the 3am train from Penn Station.
Best.Decision.Ever.
Kerny didn't know I was on my way so it was a big surprise to her when I walked into her classroom at 10AM.
I got to see the ones I love the most.

And also my parents. (jk)

Next day Kern and I hit up the antique show where I got a treasure.
Saturday we went horseback riding on a trail out behind our house.

Fell in love with some horses.

Fell in love with a puppy.

And followed it up with some shopping.

Sunday I finally got in my "Sunday Drive" (more like Sunday Ride).

How the Bubba rides once the wind starts hurting his ears.

I {heart} NY...
but Virginia is for lovers.

Broken Interweb

This is the view from my happy blogging place and Wednesday is usually my bliggity-blog catch up day, however, my internet is down. If I used emoticons, now would be the time I entered a sad frowny face emoticon, but I don't. So I'm coming to you from my phone because I'm so gadget-friendly/techy/fancy (not - let's hope this even works - fingers crossed). But I do have SO much to catch up on!!! My trip to VA, our goings out and about this past weekend, my fave things right now (they're good, trust me!), and the fact that on my day off today, I brunched next to reality TV stars and I'm going to a broadway play tonight!

Love,
~Kare

Sal-Tlay-Ka-Siti

The hysterical name to a song from the hit broadway musical, Book of Mormon. American accent translation: Salt Lake City.
I went there.
A year ago, my Biddy, Bri-Bizzle moved there against her better judgement (jk, Bri, jk) and it was high time I visited her.
About 5mths ago, our fellow New Yorker and friend, who we lovingly call Steve Holt, moved there also.
I'm not sure what these people are thinking. SLC will never be > NYC, but whatevs. Not that I miss them or am bitter at all. I don't. And I'm not. At all. AT ALL!

I arrived on Thursday night and had girl talk and a sleep over with my Bri. Since she worked Friday, Holt took off and babysat me for the day. He took me to Park City for lunch.
Not a bad view!

After we lunched, we got ice cream, walked Main St, shopped, and even stopped by his co-workers cookout back in Salt Lake before walking to Temple Sq from his place. Please let it be known, SLCers do not walk everywhere like NYers. Like most places outside of Manhattan, they don't walk anywhere. We were the only people, other than hobos, walking the streets of Salt Lake, which are much scarier by the way than the mean streets of NY. The BYU game was on so we popped into a sports bar and watched them win, grabbed a super late dinner at an Indian restaurant and finally called it a night.

Saturday -
Saturday was filled with more girl talk, brunch, more shopping, and finally a drive out to Bountiful to meet up with my cousins and a fellow Richmonder for more ice cream. I'm noticing a pattern here. My bio should say, "I love girl talk, and shopping, and ice cream. The end."
My cousin, Ryan (not my twin or even brother as most people assume - most people including people who've known us well, and for a long, long, time) and his wife, Jordan, have two kids, Ella and Kyler.
Kyler just chillin' with Dad.
Ella has a signature move, which she has patented her "lady pose." It was her instant reaction to both ordering "pink ice cream" and trying on my cocktail ring. A true lady, I tell ya.

I had my own lesson in lady posing.
I'm a natural. I think we know where Ella gets it. Sorry Jord.

Brad Z. met up with us as well. You remember Brad... from the Final Four. The Gholson's and Z's grew up together and spent practically every Labor & Memorial Day, Fourth of July, and Christmas Eve together since we were little. He and Bri met at a party about a month before my trip and Bri had sent me a picture of the occasion. My brain exploded to see my two worlds, Richmond and New York, collide in Salt Lake City. It's a small world after all!
We're all growed up now.

Even Bradley got in on the Lady Posing. It's contagious.

My last day was spent having brunch with Holt (go ahead and add brunch to my list of faves in my bio as well), napping with Bri - a fave past time, more girl talk, and then finally heading to South Jordan for a dinner party and viewing of "Bad Teacher"with some of Bri's friends.
Before I knew it, I was back at the airport and sitting on the red-eye back to NY.
A quick weekend get away had been just what I needed. I think. I slept pretty much all day on Monday to recover from my lack of sleep all weekend. Isn't that how it usually goes? You need a vacation to recover from your vacation? I guess, if you did it right, you do.

Love,
~Legs*
