The Big 2-6!

This year, on my actual day of birth I arrived in NYC (from being home for the weekend for the 48HFP) on the Chinatown bus at 6AM. I hadn't slept well on the bus, had to work all day starting at 8AM, and was in complete denial about how wretchedly sick I was. That night however, my girlies took me to dinner and we had a great time! I took no pictures... you know I was sick if I took no pics - and even wore long jeans... see? Sick.
We ate at Westville East and it was DELISH!!! I highly recommend the Chocolate Souffle' - served a la mode - with the homemade Mint Chocolate Chip Ice Cream! Mmm-mmm, good!

A week and a half later...
Diddy and Yelena treated me to my BIG Bday pressie of a ticket to see "Priscilla Queen of the Desert," a broadway musical which I've actually been DYING to see. It was the perfect girly night out. The show is about three drag queen girlfriends on a road trip. We knew all the music, and the costumes were AMAZE!!! (Hence, it winning the tony for best costumes).

Freaks and geeks, these two.

My three favorite things in the show were:
1). The old lady drag queen named Bernadette (or Ralph) - preferably in this outfit.
2). The barbie blazer (see fabric below) that was worn by the Madonna-loving, young, drag queen. Perfection.
3). This HYSTERICAL ensemble member who seemed to steal the show more than once!
(She's the on in the middle, in the wife-beater - seriously... hysterical.)

Such a fun show to see with girlfriends! And somehow Yelz got us into the 2nd row!!! My only complaint was that I wasn't chosen to dance on stage when the cast came down into the audience and started pulling people to spotlight. I was the jelliest jelly-bird you ever did see.
Not funny.
Thanks to all the people who called, texted, fb messaged, and celebrated my birthday! My 26th year will be a good one no doubt... it's certainly started off with a bang!

Love,

I enjoy being a girl!

I have been the girliest thing today. And LOVED every minute of it!

Today, I wore heels, pink lipstick, 6 rings, diamond earrings, short shorts, got a haircut, got BANGS (for real), purchased 3 new hair products (including a teasing comb - YAY!!!), did my nails, had dinner and girl talk with Sweet Ang, spoke to both my grandmas on the phone, had a chocolate milkshake, and flirted with a boy.

I LOVE girly-girl days. Like, a lot.

Love,
~Legs*
PS. I know it's super belated, but I still have to blog about my spectacular birthday outings and even more spectacular girlfriends who celebrated with me.

Circa 2002

but not really.
It just feels like it
(flashback to MBK HS homecoming court 2001-2002).

I haven't seen Chris since approx 2002.
Just to be clear, that's almost 10yrs guys.

Turns out, he's playing baseball in Connecticut for the Bridgeport Bluefish and he and a few of his adorable teammates came down for a night out on the town.... ON A TUESDAY NIGHT!
I'm getting too old for this, but these boys were worth the miserable me that was the next day. Hopefully I'll make it up to Ct for a game soon!
Love,
~Kare

Goodbye J & R

Rusty-Pants and Jonny-Cakes have BOTH left the building.
And by building, I mean city.
They left on the same day.
And that day was today.
Sad.
It's the end of an era.
There were a few goodbye festivities, and I was lucky enough to make it to two of them.
The first was the beach.
(Rusty & Jonny)

The second was a private party at this place...
Fancy, right?
I happened to arrive here first due to my already out-and-about day and as I waited alone for someone to arrive, I felt like a high-class call girl, fully aware that I did not fit in with my surroundings, but anticipating playing the part. However, I stuck to my classy ways, and did NOT play the part. We wont post that video though... or maybe we will.
BFF
They got mad love.
Only because very few people read or even know about this blog,
I introduce you to...
The Grandma Dance.

Y'welcome.
Don't say I never gave you anything.

Love,
~Legs*

P.S. Thanks Rustin, for allowing me to steal all of your pics without your permission.

The Bachelorette (not the show)

Also while home for the 48HFP, I had plans to meet up with Massandje and Karla for a little bachelorette dinner/girls night out. Massandje was the lady of the hour, getting married to her southern gentleman the very next weekend in a private religious ceremony.
I've known these two since 9th grade and I'll tell you right now... they're good people! We may not see each other often, but I love them! They're beautiful, BRILLIANT, successful, thoughtful, funny, resilient, and kind-hearted. Duh! That's why one of them is getting snatched up! Or as the kids these days are saying, getting "wifed up". Quite literally.
At the end of our food/gab fest, we were sad to say goodbye!
Again, I live for girls night out!

Adventures of the S-Team

So this year we drew... Horror (woof).
So we put it back. And we drew... Adventure Serial (huh?).
See that process here.

Here were this year's requirements (for all genres/teams):
Character - Tyler/Tyra Hampton, Electrician.
Prop - Blow dryer.
Line of dialogue - "From now on, you call the shots."

Now a series of photos from our filming process...
(Most photots [and by most, I mean the good ones] credited to Josh Grice)...

Brainstorming
Perfect day for filming outside, no?
Our directors. And the owners of Monarch Productions.
And action.
Dedication.
Happiest crew you ever saw.
The boys had to continuously drench themselves with these spray bottles to appear 'hot.'
(My 2nd fave pic from the weekend.)
Awkward villain.
Downtime between takes. (My 3rd fave pic from the weekend.)
Kevin cuts and edits.
Break for production meeting.
Montage of the first edited scene viewing...
(The 3rd being my FAVE pic from the weekend. This is why we love doing this every year; being together, being creative, and making each other laugh.)
Break for food.
Back to the grind.
Our high quality and EXPENSIVE special effects for wind included fish-line and safety pins. And we did it in one-take. (See movie.)
Getting sleepy at the midnight mark of shooting.
Growing restless while still shooting at 1AM.
Last scene and it's with this goofball.
It's a wrap @ 2AM. So let's get some extra shots for a fake R&B music video that maybe wont make it in the film. Why not?

Good news. Our film showed last in our session at the film premieres at the Byrd Theatre that next weekend AND we got an excellent reaction from the crowd including good questions for the Q&A afterwards.

And the most exciting news from this year's process.....
Kern made her 48HFP DEBUT!!!
Enjoy.
